Janelle Coleman-Smith, Bone and Joint Health Navigator
St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Santa Rosa
Janelle Coleman-Smith has been an outpatient navigator with the hospital for one year after taking the Health Navigation Certification course at Sonoma State University. She received her RN license from MCTC in Minneapolis, MN. Janelle has been working as an Orthopedic Nurse for 9 years and in January she will be continuing her education receiving her MSN from USF. Janelle is passionate about advocating for her patients. Her goals are to guide her patients, helping them find the health and wellness resources, and to help them work through chronic conditions.
Michael Johnston, LAc, M.S.O.M. obtained his Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine in 2000 from the International Institute of Chinese Medicine in Santa Fe, NM. He is licensed by the California Acupuncture Board and nationally certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. After graduation, Michael journeyed to Chengdu, China to continue his education in Chinese medicine and Chinese language at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. For over two years, he worked in a hospital setting and with doctors in their clinics including herbalists, pediatricians and gynecologists. He continues to study Mandarin Chinese translating research articles and clinical trials published in Chinese medical journals. This gives Michael access to current data being created in China, as well as helping him broaden his understanding of how Chinese medicine works in a classical context while exploring it from a Western scientific perspective. He currently has editor titles for three published works, with a new release in early 2016 of a textbook on TCM Pediatrics.
Jessica Kerger is the Total Joint Patient Navigator for the Center for Bone and Joint Health at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. She received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing at the Santa Rosa Junior College in 2012 and graduated with a Bachelor in Science of Nursing degree from Sonoma State University in 2013. Jessica will graduate with a Masters in Science of Nursing Leadership in 2016 from California State University Chico. Prior to her role as the Patient Navigator, Jessica worked as a Registered Nurse on the Orthopedics unit at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital gaining valuable knowledge as an orthopedic nurse. Jessica was born and raised in Sonoma County and desires to continue to serve her community as the Total Joint Patent Navigator in the Center for Bone and Joint Health.
Steve Reis, Santa Rosa Strength. Steve and Deanna Reis and Wes Hardy started Santa Rosa Strength in 2001, after leaving FIT, one of the largest Strength and conditioning facilities of its kind. For the last 14 years, as they have grown their families, they have remained focused on improving and expanding Santa Rosa Strength, while helping individuals within our community to reach their fitness goals, and improve their health.
Steve began working as an instructor over 25 years ago, and in that time has helped to start 3 successful fitness companies in Northern California. He has supervised some 55,000 strength training sessions and is still as passionate today about helping people overcome challenges as he was the day he started.
Santa Rosa Strength specializes in a unique brand of resistance training intended to maximize all the benefits of exercise in two weekly visits, while decreasing greatly the risk of injury. We specialize in core strengthening, balance and stability training, treating osteopenia, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and sarcopenia. We also work with pre and post hip and knee replacements. We also work with individuals being treated with chronic low back pain.
