Yoga and Japanese Acupressure Self Healing Practices

Posted: May 21st, 2015

This presentation will include gentle stretches, chair yoga, a couple of “golden oldie” songs, an introduction to self-healing practices from Japanese acupressure, and perhaps a bit of flute music as you relax!

Years ago, Hannah had a yoga student named Faye who engaged Hannah for private lessons at the age of 88… Hannah continued to visit her each week until she passed away at 92 years old. We started with yoga, and later on we shifted to guided relaxation and flute music during Faye’s last years. CDs of “Mother’s Heart Flute Relaxations” & “Walk with the Angels” will be available after the presentation. Gentle Yoga DVDs will also be there. Music and Movement light up certain parts of the brain that cannot be accessed by speech alone. Elderly clients with severe memory loss can often remember all the words to some of those “golden oldie” songs! It invariably brings them great joy 🙂

Hannah believes that music, movement and healing touch are tremendously beneficial in the care of elders. As a musician and fitness instructor (before becoming a therapist), she sang and played Golden Oldies, and offered stretch breaks, at senior centers and retirement homes from 1998-2004 in Sonoma and Santa Rosa. She has been blessed to sing at the bedside of people who are leaving this world, and considers it an honor. Feel free to give Hannah call at 707-494-7470. CounselingYogaMeditation.com
