Welcome to the Sonoma County Section on Aging!

We hope to see you at our next meeting on May 15th!

Topic: World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Jane Eckels will serve as moderator and begin by talking briefly about World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Our speaker will be Robin Hammond from the District Attorney's office, who will speak for about 25 minutes on recent cases and current trends the DA sees in elder abuse, and then we will have a Q&A panel to respond to questions from the audience. The panel will include representatives from the Ombudsman, APS and the Family Justice Center. Here is a bit of information about all the participants. Jane Eckels is a member of the Sonoma County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council and the Senior Advocacy Services Board of Directors and is chair of the Elder Protection Work Group. Robin Hammond is a Deputy District Attorney and heads up the office's Elder Protection Unit. The Q&A panel will include: Crista Chelemedos, Executive Director of Senior Advocacy Services Tara Underly, Social Worker with Adult Protective Services (to be confirmed) Norma Ford, Council on Aging Senior Advocate at the Family Justice Center
